About Us
This organization was started with the sole purpose to help provide scholarship money for current and future band members. The organization plans to work closely with Southern University Marching Band staff to help and assisst them the best way possible. Our Purpose
The main focus of this organization will be to provide scholarships, network, keep in touch, and have fun while doing it all. The entity will be comprised of any former member of the Southern University Marching Band. Whether you were a one fall marcher or a four-year 'Wool-Owner', you are welcome. The group will be under the Umbrella of the Southern University Alumni Federation. When you become a member of SUMBA Chapter you will be a part of the SU Alumni Federation. Big activities are being planned to raise money. We will BBQ at selected home games. Check the Upcoming Events page for more information.
For next Fall the plan is to give at least 10 'Full Ride' scholarships to members of the band. One corporate sponsor is already lined up and many more are being contacted. A fee of $100 is needed to join the Chapter. This contribution satisfies SU Alumni dues as well as SUMBA dues. The group has the potential of being the Premier Alumni group. For years everybody has wanted to be like the band and or follow the band. Now is the chance to continue the tradition on an alumni level. If you ever wore the 'S' on your chest and it meant something to you, then this is the chance to do something positive for the band. Contact us with any questions.
